Imperator’s Message March 2023

This channel of communication between you and me will be, I believe, a fundamental element of your Rosicrucian Path and of your experience in the Order. Indeed, it will strengthen the bonds of fellowship that unite us in our search and exploration of the higher dimensions of existence.

In truth, these connections are not merely symbolic but real. Our perception of reality is a function of our brain structure. It allows us to see the world part by part in a fragmented way. But there are moments of elevation and expansion of consciousness when we can feel the intimate connection there is between us and all of creation. Moments in which it seems as if a veil is lifted and for a short time, we are allowed to perceive a reality totally different from our everyday one.

Now to seal this first meeting of ours, let us close our eyes for a few moments and take deep breaths, without stopping. Inhale and exhale slowly. Now focus on my words.

There is a branch of science called plant neurobiology. It has shown how a forest actually makes up a living unit. All its components are intimately related to each other. Trees, plants, insects. All of them.

There are close physical bonds among the trees in the forest that allow for the exchange of food substances and information. This makes all trees behave as if they were the components of one body, one living being. That is how we are. We are all intimately connected, and we are also connected with the plant and animal world. But we do not perceive it objectively.

But now let us ask the Cosmic that for a moment the veil covering our eyes be lifted; that we be allowed to feel the intimate connection there is among all life on the planet.

Feel your body. Think about the matter that makes up your body, the atoms that make up your body, and how they have been part of some other substance in the past; maybe a plant, maybe a rock, maybe an animal.

For instance, imagine a carbon atom, one of the main components of our physical body. Think of it as a tiny little ball, which will be fine for our visualization. Millions of years ago, it was part of a limestone rock. The latter was then decomposed by the very high temperature of a volcano. And so, our carbon atom was ejected into the atmosphere in the form of carbon dioxide. The gas traveled thousands of miles and fell with the rain. It was then absorbed by grass in a field.

One day the grass caught fire from a lightning strike. So, our carbon atom resumed its flight through the air again as carbon dioxide. It was then absorbed by a plant through its process of photosynthesis. In that process, carbon dioxide is used to produce plant structures. So, our carbon atom went on to make up the stem of that plant.

But behold! a cow ate the plant. The atom then became part of a fat molecule, that then went on to make up milk. Milk that your mother drank while you were in her womb. Eventually, that carbon atom went on to make up one of the neurons in your brain. And you are now using it to listen to this story.

There is no separation between us and living nature. There is a continuous exchange of energy and matter among us living beings. Because of that continuous exchange, each individual being is bound to all others by permanent bonds. Sacred bonds that generate the life we celebrate today.

Now open your eyes. May the Cosmic grant us more and more awareness of the bonds that unite us, so that the utopia of humanity, and its realization of its connection with nature, will one day become fully manifested.
